12/24/2022 0 Comments Topaz sharpen ai vs denoise ai![]() I spent a lot of time reviewing all of the comments left on our DeNoise AI v3.3 update post and our social media channels, and one of the most common themes-and source of confusion-has to do with when to use the RAW model. I recommend reading this article to learn more about how and why we built the RAW model. Both of these file types are classified as compressed RGB files, and while DeNoise AI can do great things with them, there is so much more that we can do when we source the original RAW data. This workflow requires your DAM first to create a duplicate file, often a JPEG or TIFF. We've also loved seeing the noise-reduced photos you've shared with us online! We built the RAW model to deliver the cleanest possible noise reduction by changing the data we analyze.Typically, you'd import your RAW files into your digital asset manager (DAM), go through a curation process, edit your picks, and then send the noisier ones to DeNoise AI. Photoshop, including many of the earlier versions, works just as well or better. We've been thrilled with all the positive (and constructive) feedback on the new RAW model recently introduced in DeNoise AI v3.3. Or will continue doing some noise reduction and capture sharpening in the conversion and then using the Topaz products in the latter stages of print making offer the best results? Next question for me is what sort of results to I get turning off noise reduction and capture sharpening in Lightroom or Iridient Digital then applying deNoise AI and finally Sharpen AI. But the Topaz AI products appear to offer even better results, at least some of the time. I have been finding Lightroom's noise reduction and capture sharpening to be very effective, even for big prints. ![]() I think it is going to take some experimentation to figure out where in the workflow to use these products and how much does one do in the RAW conversion software. Perhaps there is another app from Topaz that enables that.I'm new to it all. I would love to see Batch process be rolled out in a future release. I've been using their Denoise AI for about a week or so. I have 5 or 6 of their items but use the focus and noise reduction stuff the most. Excellent software at very reasonable price. I suspect the AI products will improve, both in speed and consistency of output. It is not bad-no need to make a cup of coffee to have enough energy to take a nap-but a minute or two of waiting is normal. The AI products do like a very modern computer I am using an i9 iMac with SSD and extra RAM and still things take a bit of time. AI Sharpen has been inconsistent, working well on some things but very poorly on the fur of a wolf with many artifacts. ![]() The deNoise AI has worked well for me the few times I have used it. Topaz now has some AI products available. It works well but it has taken me some time to get used to since I was used to something else for many years. They were/are individual plug-ins and have now been replaced by Topaz Studio, which gives a unified, one stop interface. The denoise and masking software again work very, very well. The sharpening tools are excellent and quite flexible. ![]() ![]() I have been quite happy with them, especially Details and an inFocus, both sharpening tools, and Denoise and Remask. I have been using Topaz products for many years now. Admittedly, my computer is "loaded for bear" and has no issues with regard to speed here. No issue with "slowness" and that may be an issue with the power/resources of individual user's computers. I generally do not have an issue with noise on my own work, but sometimes use such programs to assist clients with their print files. I was given the program for free as an upgrade to current software owned. I haven't experimented with it much, but it seems easy to use and results look good. and I'm just curious if anyone has had any experience with such software and if it was worth it (minus the slowness of using it as I've read) Topaz Labs has a sale for the bundle and also individual software they have to sharpen, denoise, increase pixel, etc. Anyone use Topaz Labs software like Sharpen AI or Denoise AI. ![]()
